Fisheries

Fisheries and Oceans Canada staff from the Sea Lamprey Control Centre (SLCC) are planning to treat the Sauble River with lampricide as part of a bi-national effort to control sea lampreys in the Great Lakes. Sauble River Lampricide Treatment

• We currently have 50,000 in the hatchery. The Barrow Bay club will receive 5,000 fingerlings for their egg collection support and another 20,000 will be stocked in Colpoy’s Bay in mid November which will leave about 30,000 to fin clip and stock next spring.
• We received 3000 Brown Trout eggs from the Spring Creek Anglers and expect more next week.
• Hatchery water flow is currently 17 gallons per minute. .


FISH FEEDERS NEEDED: Volunteers needed to feed fish at the hatchery. Job involves a half hour each day for a one or two week period. Training is available for anyone interested.

Attached is a letter from the MNR pertaining to a Fish Stocking Survey that is being conducted between now and April 4th. This survey is an opportunity for members of the BPSA to voice their opinion on fish stocking as a whole; and in particular, the work our organization and other local groups are doing with respect to fish stocking
and fishing opportunities in Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.
